Mercer Harmonise® – promoting wellbeing at work
Modern life has become busy and complex for many of us. We often have huge amounts of information to negotiate, much of it about our health and finance. It’s easy to feel a loss of control amidst all of this ‘noise’.

To better understand the impact this is having in the workplace, Mercer recently commissioned a survey from RED C of over 1,500 employees in Ireland and the UK.

We found that 82% of employees faced increased stress at work. 59% were concerned about maintaining a healthy lifestyle while holding down a job, 55% about providing for family if affected by illness or death, and 54% about paying household bills. The stress and anxiety caused by these concerns was contributing to reduced concentration (64%), reduced job satisfaction (59%) and lower productivity (44%). Indeed our research shows that the average cost of lost productivity attributable to employee stress to be 7.8% of payroll. Tellingly, most respondents said they would value their employer doing more to help with these issues.

That’s why Mercer created Mercer Harmonise®, a personalised digital platform that enables your employees to understand, engage with and take control of their health, wealth and benefit needs – all in the one place. Reflecting the growing trend towards work-life integration, Mercer Harmonise® is available on smartphone, tablet and desktop providing employees with access at home, at work or wherever they are.

The health module of Mercer Harmonise® links to activity trackers and digital doctors, helping employees to monitor and take control of their health and wellness. Using Mercer Harmonise® individuals can also set targets, adjust their savings, compare themselves with their peer group, select their benefits and access a selection of additional voluntary benefits. Interactive tools and personalised nudges help them to making proactive decisions guided by Mercer’s insights and underpinned by high-quality products and services.

Mercer Harmonise® proves that life needn’t be so complicated and stressful. Employers who take the care to introduce simple, user-friendly, interactive tools that help employees manage their wellbeing will reap rewards in terms of improved engagement, productivity and morale; lower staff turnover; reduced benefit administration costs; and enhanced recruitment and retention potential – creating a better workplace for all.
